All Crown Registry and Geographic Base information products are protected by Province of British Columbia Crown Copyright. Any and all use of Branch information products, whether in whole or in part, requires approval from the Intellectual Property Program.

For Crown Registry and Geographic Base information products, the majority of requests for granting of copyright permission are for the use of air photos, orthophotos, and TRIM mapping. Copyright permission may or may not be granted. Potential uses include, but are not limited to the following:

  • internal business use by either the public or private sector;
  • re-sale and re-distribution in whole or in part;
  • for publication in a report intended for broad distribution;
  • for instructional use by educational institutions and students;
  • for research and development;
  • for promotional and display purposes in any medium.
