This service includes the entire layer library of Web Map Services, available as individual services below. Feel free to copy and paste these layers into your own KML files and publish them to the web.
   
Admin boundaries Administrative Boundaries link View in Google Earth WMS URL
This web map service offers seamless, administrative boundary data for the province of British Columbia.
   
Administrative Forest Boundaries Administrative Forest Boundaries link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data relating to the subdivisions of the province for organizational reasons and used for forest administration purposes, e.g., districts, regions, timber supply, tree farm, etc.
   
Water Admin Administrative Water Boundaries link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data relating to the subdivisions of the province for organizational reasons and used for water administration purposes, e.g., water management precincts and districts, community watersheds, etc.

This web map service offers seamless, provincial topographic base maps at four scales:
1:6 000 000, 1:2 000 000, 1:250 000, and 1: 20 000. The 1:20 000 base map is Terrain Resource Information Management (TRIM).
   
cwb Base Mapping Corporate Watershed link View in Google Earth WMS URL
The Corporate Watershed Base includes linework, waterbodies, named streams, named waterbodies (lakes, wetlands), named coastal features (points, bays, channels, and islands), etc. The current version of CWB is based on the TRIM data completed in 1996.
   
Fresh Water Marine Fresh Water and Marine link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data related to the management, inventory and classification of water resources.
   
Forest Grasslands and Wetlands Forest Grasslands and Wetlands link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data related to the inventory and classification of vegetation information into identifiable systems of biotic and abiotic components, including sensitive ecosystems and natural plant communities at-risk.
   
GeoDetic Survey Geodetic Survey link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data relating to the geospatial reference used for positioning within the Province. The term geodetic meaning: concerned with the precise location (latitude, longitude, height) of points and figures on the earth's surface.
   
Geology Geology and Soils link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data relating to the structure and composition of the earth, its physical and organic history, especially as evidenced by rocks and rock information as well as data relating to the naturally occurring, unconsolidated mineral or organic material at least 10 cm thick that occurs at the earth's surface and is capable of supporting plant growth.

Orthophotography, hill shades and regional imagery covering various portions of British Columbia.
   
Known Fish Observations Known Fish Observations link View in Google Earth WMS URL
This point data shows all fish occurrence records for the Province that are currently available from corporate oracle databases. The data is a compilation from several data sources including the Fisheries Information Summary System (FISS) and the Consolidated Waterbody Surveys (CWS).

Satellite imagery covering various portions of BC.
   
Land Ownership and Status Land Ownership and Status link View in Google Earth WMS URL
Data relating to the ownership of land and the parcels into which the land has been subdivided. Includes the location and extent of registered titles, easements and utility rights-of-way, and surveyed highways and forest roads.

Data resource management direction as well as designation of resource management units for the purposes of Land Use Planning.

Data relating to the right to access or use land for a specified purpose.

Data contains a generalized representation of watersheds developed from the 1:50,000 BC Watershed Atlas with each region coded for occurrence of freshwater fish species (including anadromous salmon in their freshwater stages).

Data relating to the management, collection, treatment, and disbursement of waste matter from commercial, residential or industrial establishments.

Data relating to the inventory of wildlife, and/or plant species (including species at risk), and the quantity and quality of a species habitat.
   
Note:
  • To view data in Google Earth you have to install the application to your computer
  • Most layers have a pre-set viewable scale range. This means you may have to continue to zoom in before the image of the data appears
  • When utilizing the GetCapabilities URL please refer to the Instructions.
