What You Require to Use This Service
To connect to and view service layers provided by a WMS you must have a client application (e.g. Google Earth, NASA World Wind, or ESRI ArcMap) or access a web-enabled application (e.g. ArcExplorer Web).
Many client applications are downloadable via the web free of charge. Others are part of commercially available software (such as ESRI ArcGIS).
Note: The GeoBC Servicedesk will not support the configuration and installation of any of these products on your computer.
Limitations of Web Map Connection Services
This service is limited to distributing images of BC Government Natural Resource Information and does not contain any functionality to extract vector based features from the Land and Resource Data Warehouse.
Since WMS data is viewed within your own GIS or map viewer, you must be using a WMS enabled system, and you must be able to configure the system to allow data streaming from the WMS. If you only require a visual representation of the data supplied by the WMS without any other data, you may find it easier to use the iMapBC viewer.
This service is dynamic; therefore the number and availability of layers will vary over time. Layer presentation, names default symbolization and data organization are all subject to change. These services will mirror iMapBC content, data organization, availability and organization.
