GENERAL COMMENTS SECTION
Fish Species
Codes for B.C.
Standardized two and three character codes for fish
species have been established and used in British Columbia for several years. The
abbreviations currently in use are presented below. Consistent use of these codes are
necessary to eliminate confusion and errors often associated with trying to decipher
personal abbreviations for fish species. This list of species includes those found in
British Columbia or known to have been introduced at some period.
