Central and North Coast EBM Implementation

Adaptive Management Steering Committee

Adaptive Management (AM) is a crucial element of EBM that has been referenced in the agreements and commitments from governments. The Government-to-Government process has defined Adaptive Management as a:

“systematic approach to resource management that engages the parties and stakeholders in structured collaborative research and monitoring with the goal of improving land and resource management policies, objectives and practices over time. Adaptive Management is a component of EBM and includes passive and active management approaches.”

A steering committee of First Nations, major stakeholders and Provincial Agencies has been formed to oversee the AM program. It will clarify AM and its implementation, develop communication/capacity building strategies, update ecological integrity and human well being information, and identify research and monitoring priorities.
